Cherry Creek South is what people call the blocks just across the creek from Cherry Creek North and the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, between University and Colorado Boulevards. It is not an official Denver neighborhood. On the city’s map these blocks are the north end of Belcaro.
The appeal is simple. You are a short walk or bike ride over the creek to the shops and restaurants of Cherry Creek North, but the streets on this side are quieter and more residential.
Two kinds of housing
Along Cherry Creek South Drive, the frontage road on the south bank, you will find mid-rise and high-rise condo buildings, many with views over the creek toward downtown. A block or two in, the feel changes to single-family homes on larger lots, from mid-century ranches to newer custom homes, plus the gated Polo Club area.
That mix gives buyers real options. A condo here can be a lock-and-leave home close to everything, while the houses offer more space and privacy than most of Cherry Creek North.
Living here day to day
The Cherry Creek Trail runs right along the north edge, so walking, running and biking are part of daily life. Groceries and errands are on Colorado Boulevard and in Cherry Creek, and Washington Park is a short drive west.
